Among the new lawmakers, Tina Sablan, not surprisingly, has consistently, by her actions and statements, kept her word to her constituents. Her positions about federalization and transparency were well-known even before she ran for office, so I don’t know why Greg Cruz is claiming that she “deceived” voters. And I don’t know what Tina gained by being consistently honest. As I’ve said before, even before she was sworn in, she had already lost half of the votes she got in November.
True to her word, Tina has been informing the media about every session and every House schedule forwarded to her office. She informs us about what bills or resolutions were introduced or voted upon. She even tells us how she voted. Today, she will hold the first of her weekly press conferences. She has been attacked and vilified publicly for walking her talk, but has never responded in the same shrill and ad hominem manner that her detractors mistook for a sign of their intelligence.
She may be in politics now, but she’ll never be a politician because she can’t stand b.s. and will not lie to her constituents. The good news is that the Force is with her. The bad news is that it’s only with her.
